Zero-rated and exempt sales carry no output VAT. Input VAT linked to exempt sales is generally not recoverable. This is an estimate; your actual return depends on your records and the tax authority’s rules.

Results are estimates for general information. They are not tax, legal or financial advice. Rules and rates change, so please check with an advisor before you act on them.

How it works

VAT is 5% in the UAE and 15% in Saudi Arabia. To add VAT, multiply the net amount by the rate. To remove VAT from a price that already includes it, divide by 1.05 (UAE) or 1.15 (KSA).

Registration is mandatory once your taxable supplies pass 375,000 (AED or SAR) over the past 12 months, or are expected to pass it soon. Voluntary registration is possible from 187,500.

The return helper works out output VAT on your sales, less recoverable input VAT on your purchases, to show whether you owe VAT or can reclaim it.

Questions

What is the VAT registration threshold in the UAE?

Registration is mandatory when taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 in the past 12 months, or are expected to exceed it in the next 30 days. Voluntary registration is available above AED 187,500 of supplies or taxable expenses.

What is the VAT registration threshold in Saudi Arabia?

Registration with ZATCA is mandatory when annual taxable supplies exceed SAR 375,000, and voluntary above SAR 187,500.

How do I remove VAT from a total?

Divide the total by 1.05 in the UAE or 1.15 in Saudi Arabia to get the net amount. The difference is the VAT.
